Started Small with a Big Goal

Run for Heart kicked off today! ❤️‍🔥
Started small with a 4km walk through the Strathnaver Grasslands this afternoon. My family joined me for the first steps of this journey. Grateful. 🙏

Being involved with Run for Heart means everything to me. Raising awareness for heart disease is close to my heart, because every heartbeat truly matters. 💓

I’m nearly at my fundraising goal (amazing!!), but how incredible would it be if we went beyond it? Every dollar supports vital heart research and helps spread awareness that can save lives.

I’m walking for hearts ❤️ and for my brother Daniel.

Spent the weekend in Sydney getting my walking shoes ready for this year’s Heart Foundation Run for Heart, starting June 1.

While there, I visited a beautiful Moreton Bay Fig in the Botanic Gardens that Indira Naidoo writes about this tree in her book "The Space between the Stars" and how it gave her comfort after the loss of her sister.

After losing my beloved brother Daniel to cardiac arrest in 2020, I was drawn to that same majestic tree. Standing beneath its massive branches, overlooking Woolloomooloo, I felt a wave of emotion and peace.

This June, I’m walking to honour Daniel, and to raise awareness and funds for heart disease prevention. If you’d like to support me, every little bit helps. Link is in the comments.

💗 Love you always, Daniel. Miss you every single day.

Why I am

Heart disease has always been a part of my life — which is why I’m asking you to Run (or walk!) for Heart with me this June.

When I was just six years old, I had my first open-heart surgery. I remember being so scared — but I was lucky. The surgery was a success, and I got to grow up, laugh, live, and love.

But at 41, heart disease returned. My mitral valve collapsed, and I needed a mechanical valve to survive. Since then, I’ve lived with atrial fibrillation — a condition that makes every day feel like I’m running a marathon, even when I’m standing still.

I’ve now survived two open-heart surgeries, and thanks to the support of my amazing family and friends, I’m still here — living life to the fullest.

But not everyone gets that chance.

Five years ago, I lost my beloved brother to sudden cardiac arrest. Losing him shattered my world — and it’s what spurs me on even more to put an end to this cruel disease.

This June, I’m taking part in Run with Heart — not just for me, but for my brother, for my family, and for the millions of others impacted by heart disease. I’m walking to raise awareness, to fund critical research, and to help save lives.

Please support my walk, donate if you can, and help me make every step count. Link to donate is below  🙏

With love,
Jacqueline — heart disease survivor, sister, and walker with heart ♥️

Will you help me Run For Heart?

This June I'll be feeling my heartbeat as I move a marathon distance to support people in Australia impacted by heart disease.

But I need your support. Every donation you give really means so much to me as I go the distance this June.

Your generosity also goes a long way to support the 1 in 6 people in Australia living with cardiovascular disease.

You'll be helping fund more life-saving research and support that can transform heart disease diagnosis and treatment.

I'm ready to Run For Heart (walking that is!) Are you ready to help save lives? Please donate now.
