The Reasons Why
I have brought myself on board with the Run for Heart event for a couple of reasons.
1. When I was only 2.5 years old I had open heart surgery and have had the privilege to live a fairly normal life.
2. As motivation in the last 5 week lead up to the Gold Coast Half Marathon.
As some of you close to me know, someone very close to me has been going through health concerns. Because of that, I am trying to make sure I am the healthiest I can be for my family. In the beginning of 2024 I started riding a bike to get fit. Once I was confident I joined a HIIT gym (Fit HQ) to get some strength and endurance. In 2025, my amazing employer sponsored me and others at our workplace with entries into the Gold Coast Half Marathon. So I have been working my way from 0km to 21.1km over the last 25 weeks.
Over the last 1.5 years, I have lost around 13kg, I feel the healthiest I have ever felt and I have accomplished my furthest run ever of 15km.

This June I'll be feeling my heartbeat as I move a marathon distance to support people in Australia impacted by heart disease.
