In honour of my Dad x

This June, I’m running a “marathon”throughout the month. A marathon is around 42km — so I’m running one kilometre for every year my dad lived.

He passed away from heart disease at just 42. My dad was incredibly inspiring to me, and this is my way of honouring him before his upcoming birthday on 1st of July and raising awareness about heart health. Dad and I worked side by side in the shearing sheds for many years, and it was incredibly hard to go back to work thereafter. My life changed - but I have grown so much since then, fighting many silent battles. Although heart disease continues to affect our family with many of his siblings now living with the effects of heart disease.

Realistically, I am no athlete so I aim to run 10.5km a week.

As I move a marathon distance this month, I’ll be feeling my heartbeat with every step — for him, and for the 1 in 6 Australians affected by cardiovascular disease.

But I can’t do it alone — I need your support. Every donation means so much to me as I go the distance.

Your generosity helps fund life-saving research and vital support that can transform how heart disease is diagnosed and treated.

Every step I take is for my dad — and for others still fighting. ❤️
